Professional Background
Earlier in his career, he served as a Legal Intern at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – National Capital Region (BJMP-NCR), Regional Legal/Hearing Service Office, in April 2019, where he assisted in the review of legal documents and administrative hearings.
His background in research and fieldwork began with the Social Weather Stations (SWS) in May 2016 as a Field Interviewer, gaining valuable experience in data gathering, social trends, and public opinion research — a foundation that continues to inform his evidence-based approach to law and teaching.

Atty. Tristan Zapata is a dedicated legal practitioner and educator with a strong background in law, governance, and social research. Currently serving as a Faculty Member under the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) at the University of the East – Manila since March 2025, he plays an active role in mentoring working professionals pursuing higher education and academic equivalency in law-related fields.
Since August 2022, Atty. Tristan has been an Assistant Professor at the University of the East – Manila, College of Business Administration, under the Department of Accountancy, Law, and Taxation, where he teaches courses on business law, taxation, and related disciplines. In August 2023, he also joined the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Social Sciences, extending his expertise to interdisciplinary studies that bridge law, governance, and society.
Beyond the academe, Atty. Tristan practices as an Election Lawyer, having actively participated in both the 2022 and 2025 National and Local Elections, providing legal assistance and representation in election-related matters.
